Subject: Internet gateways to and from MCIMail and CompuServe
This file describes the way to communicate between MCI or CompuServe
and Internet. It is the ONLY way to reach the ARRL Information Mail
Server from MCI or CompuServe. Do not send requests to our MCI or
CompuServe accounts -- send them as described to info@arrl.org .
Mailing to CompuServe:
Internet users can exchange mail with subscribers to the CompuServe
system. This function is performed by a mail gateway beween the
Internet and CompuServe. To send mail to a CompuServe user, you
must first know that person's CompuServe ID. CompuServe IDs consist
of two numbers. The first is a five-digit number starting with the
numeral 7. The second number can have up to 4 digits. CompuServe
users write these numerals separated with a comma. 76067,3724 is an
example of a CompuServe ID number. To send mail to this user, form
the Internet address equivalent by by replacing the comma with
a period and append "@compuserve.com" to it:
76067.3724@compuserve.com
A CompuServe user can send mail to an Internet user by using the normal
Internet address with ">INTERNET: appended to the front.
For example, to reach the ARRL Information Mail Server:
>INTERNET:info@arrl.org
Mailing to MCIMail:
Any MCImail users can be reached if you know the 7-digit number of
the user. (This number is often written like a US telephone number,
with the first three digits separated from the last four by a
hyphen.) Simply append "@mcimail.com" to the ID number to form the
address. For example, the ARRL HQ front-office MCI ID is
215-5052. All of the followint USENET addresses are equivalent and
will identify that MCI account:
215-5052@mcimail.com
2155052@mcimail.com
002155052@mcimail.com
The MCIMail user can address mail to an Internet user by entering
"internet" at the EMS prompt and entering your USENET address at
the MBX prompt. (Info@arrl.org will reach the ARRL Information Mail
Server.)

Supplementary information about the ARRL Information Mail Server:
Subject: INFO response: HELP
INFO is a service of ARRL HQ. To use it, mail messages to:
info@arrl.org
Each line of the message should contain a command as shown below.
You may place as many commands in a message as you want. Each file
you request will be sent to you in a separate message. Only ASCII
text files are supported at present.
Valid INFO commands:
help Sends this help file
index Sends an index of the files available from INFO
send FILENAME Sends "file" (example: send emi-gen)
quit Terminates the transaction (use this if you have
a signature or other text at the end of the message.)
Note: your message will *not* be read by a human! Do not include any
requests or questions except by way of the above commands. Retrieve
the "email" file for a list of addresses of ARRL HQ humans :-)
Also, note that this message is from "info-serv@arrl.org." Do *not* use
your mailer's "reply" command to send your next request. Generate a new
message addressed to "info@arrl.org" instead. We set it up this way to
prevent failed mail from looping endlessly, annoying system
administrators.
If anyone has ascii information files that they would like to archive
on our server, or additional information or updates for any of our
files, please contact me via email or telephone (203) 666-1541.
